If you build it, they will come…..

Marketing your farm to the public has to be creative. Some of the small farms I have visited for the WVFarm2u Collaborative sell their product by word of mouth or by rental of table space at a farmers’ market in season. They have mentioned they wish they had higher sales.
The farms that are actively selling their products and barely keeping up with demand have developed multiple ways to market and make the public aware that they exist and they can offer some food item very much worth purchasing.
Twin Maples Farm is not large but it has an active schedule of programs where the public is invited to events on the farm. I posted about the Wild Mushroom Clinic held this past Sunday and a month ago they held a chicken tractor contest. Coming up on October 13 they will be holding a Pig Roast pot luck. Go to their Facebook page to sign up!
Other farms also have activities. Go to the WVFarm2u website they  to find the farms near you!
