The aroma of flowers
When my eldest son attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, one place we loved to visit, especially if it was wintertime and the snow was deep, was Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Schenley Park. The contrast of the surrounding stark slumbering park and the lush warmth, humidity and color of the conservatory was always an awakening experience.
But this is not a travelogue to Pittsburgh story. This is a get in your car and drive to Gritt’s Midway Greenhouse in Putnam County. Located on Route 62 about 4.5 miles north of the Kanawha River bridge in Eleanor, the complex sprawls with several huge greenhouses as well as covered outdoor space, making shopping so very much fun. I’ll let the photos tell you more!
Pretty amazing irrigation system
and more!
Now at Capital Market as well!
Now I want to head to Putnam County! What a place!
I think this state is loaded with great places that are not marketed as well as they could be. The transportation issues of living in the mountains makes us more insular than other states I guess.
