How well do you really know the things you put into your mouth???? Here are some photos and I challenge you to identify each.

 

I think as you look at the comments below, the people who knew more are working with the soil. Thank you to all who played the ID game. I was asked to do this again so it will show up another time.

    1.dried corn kernel 2. sage 3. female squash blossom 4. pistachio w/out shell 5. hickory nuts 6. no idea 7. blackberries 8. lacinato kale

        Actually, food obsessed, backyard city gardener. But, I grew up in rural Georgia and my granddaddy’s hobby was shelling hickory nuts.

    1 and 2 have me stumped
    3 looks like crookneck squash
    4 ???
    5 some sort of nut (not likely walnut, more like a filbert, though the shell doesn’t look quite right
    6 garbanzo beans (maybe?)
    7 definitely blackberries
    8 kale

    I just want to interject here (one more day before the answers are given) that I admire that you both responded. Even my husband, when he was muttering his guesses and I told him he was wrong about one, did not post. I think people are afraid of looking less than perfect. The point is, we consumers often do not know what our food looks like before it arrives to us in a market setting.
